With the recent firmware update on Amazon Fire TV devices (e.g. Amazon Fire TV Stick), you might have noticed a rise in the number of times a popup asking whether you are still watching the TV is displayed. Alternatively, you simply find your screen went blank with the device in sleep mode. The pop up is displayed if there is no remote control activity for 4 hours and shortly afterwards the device is put to sleep automatically.

This is of course not wanted for Digital Signage screens, which should be up and running for hours without any popups. Fortunately, there is a quick and simple fix for this.

How to turn off Still Watching popup

  1. Go to Settings on your Amazon Fire TV device
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Select Data Usage Monitoring
  4. Change Still Watching to Off
